How to Treat Snoring – Snoring  is a noise produced when breathing during sleep.  When breathing, the movement  of the airflow  makes our soft palate and uvula vibrates  and produces the air vibration which called as Snore. According to the health research,  45% of adults snore at least occasionally, and 25% are habitual snorers. Snoring generally is suffered more frequently by overweight men. In the other side age, heartburn, and nasal allergies and others, can contribute to create snoring problem. Before you know how to treat snoring, you must know the causes of snoring.

The causes of snoring

  • The anatomy of mouth. Check, if you have a low ad thick soft palate or enlarged tonsils or tissues in the back of your throat (adenoids), all of these can narrow your airway and obstruct the airflow, then it will increase vibration and create snore.
  • Being Overweight. As we have discussed before, overweight causes snoring problem.  Extra weight specially the fat which surrounded the throat can narrow your airway when breathing, making it harder to breathe clearly.
  • The habitual in consuming alcohol. Don’t consume too much alcohol before sleep time. Alcohol can make your throat muscles relax so that the defense of your throat against airway obstruction decreasing.
  • Nasal congestion.  Chronic nasal congestion or a crooked partition which caused by some allergies or a deviated spectrum may contribute to snore more likely.
  • Sleeping on one’s back. When you sleeping on one’s back, it causes your tongue dropping to the back of your mouth and makes the airflow when breathing obstructed.

How to treat snoring

When we sleep with our loved ones, snoring will be a big problem because it can disturb others sleep and cause embarrasment. To avoid this problem, you must understand how to treat snoring bellow, to reduce your snoring activities.

  • Lose your weight. Get some regular exercises to reduce fatty tissue around the throat to stop snoring.
  • Stop smoking. Smoking increases snoring chances more higher because smoking blocks the airway. The airways is blocked by irritating the membranes in the throat which caused by smoking.
  • Quit consuming alcohol, sedatives and antihistamines. Don’t consume all of these especially at your bedtime, because they can relax your throat muscle. If you need any medical prescriptions, you can consult it to doctor. Because a deeper level of sleep can make your snoring worse.
  • Eliminate allergies maker. If you have some allergies, try to eliminate the allergens especially the allergens in your bedroom. For example you can wash sheet regularly in hot water to make your sheets clean from dust mites, removing any mold, and if you have pets, put it out your room, because some pets can cause allergy.
  • Make your own regular sleep pattern. Some rituals before sleep can help you to sleep better. To get more higher result, you can do it routinely with your sleep partner. Better sleep often reduce snoring.
